FAQs

What's the difference between the various draft patterns?

PrimeTime Draft is very flexible in that you can always add players wherever you want. You are never forced to follow a specific pattern, no matter how you set the draft pattern. You can always move the clock (and ultimately add a player) to any open slot, simply by clicking on the open slot.

Standard and Salary Cap drafts provide a "pattern" option that determines which "slot" the clock will automatically move to after a selection is made. Draft patterns include:

  • Snake: The clock moves according to the serpentine pattern of a traditional snake draft. After each round the "first to last" order of selections is reversed.
  • Straight: The clock moves according to the linear pattern of a traditional draft. The order of the teams selecting first through last is the same in every round.
  • 3RR: The clock moves according to the "3rd-Round Reversal" pattern. For those unfamiliar with the 3RR pattern, it is basically a snake draft, however, rounds 3+ are in the reverse order of a traditional snake draft.
  • Manual: This setting is best if your league does not use one of the automatic patterns. You will be responsible for moving the clock to the "next slot", whatever that means for your draft.
  • Random: This setting is best if your league changes the draft order for each round. Within a round, this setting is the same as the "Straight" pattern. However, after each round you will be prompted to return to the "Settings" screen to rearrange the draft order.
  • Indented Serpentine: This is similar to Snake, but each pair of rounds "indents" the initial pick. For example, the initial pick in round 3 (and final pick of round 4) is made by the owner of the second overall pick.
